I feel proud about my final design of the hot sauce bottle label. I worked fairly hard on it and I have a feeling accomplishment. I went with totally different theme of super heroes which is pretty cool. While I made the design I though as if the label would actually be used like in stores. Doing so helped influence a lot of my decisions. Like instead of having a red background I though having a blue background and having the colors of the character, words, and logo would make it more distinguished and eye catching. And the super hero theme would make any kids want their parents to buy that bottle instead. There was a bit of empty space beside the logo, and I did want to add some more detail to the character on the bottle. Also I could have put some more info about the company on there.

I actually haven’t looked at my grades from the first quarter. I don’t really plan to either. I just plan on trying to do better no matter what and toughing up and showing up to school regardless of how I’m feeling.

I like Photoshop a lot. It was actually the first adobe product I ever used. But back then all I did was simple things like adjusting the contrast and exposure of pictures to use later on. To use the more complex tools of it is fun and everything it’s just a lot to remember for wanting to do certain things. Also I’m still used to all the Illustrator keyboard shortcuts so it’s a bit of an adjustment. And when using Photoshop you really have to have a vision of what you want to do. You can just play around with it but then it feels like you’re not doing much of anything and becomes a bit redundant.

The SCAD presentation was great. It was very influential to the point where I love the though of going there. Before I had only thought of Clemson. But to me the only downside was Clemson isn’t exactly known for animators or anything like that but Scad on the other hand is known exactly for that and more.

Job shadowing was fun. It gave a good understanding to the photography business. Especially self employed/ freelancer photographers. The photoshoot that I went to on Tuesday was really insightful even though the next day I felt like crap.

  1. The first five chapters of the Adobe Illustrator Book were pretty basic but eye opening to the capabilities of Illustrator. One thing I greatly appreciate about the book was its showing of the keyboard shortcuts. It makes it a lot easier to do simple tasks like an undo just from pressing command and Z. Another thing that was nice to learn was to manipulate the different shapes and lines.
  2. I very much enjoyed the tutorial for Illustrator that I chose. The tutorial went over the majority of what we learned from the book and it only took around a day and a half. And the end result was something that is very cool and that I’m enthusiastic about.
  3. I did learn how to make a shadow for an object which was pretty cool to do. It’s a nice effect when used correctly. I mean most of the thing that we learned I have played around with before so it was more like extra practice but it did help to know more about the tools.
  4. I didn’t enter into the state fair. I wanted to but I had a lot of make up work from my classes. By the time I finished it was too late. But what I was going to enter was pretty good in my opinion. It was a bit rough though. I also didn’t add any colors because I was more into the contrast.
  5. I do want to enter some of the contests but I’m not sure if I will. The main reason I probably wouldn’t is I barely have time for much of anything except to do make up work and not fall behind.
  6. I also finally presented my Prezi. I felt like it went pretty well. However I did stagger towards the beginning but improved further along. I just had to remember what i wanted to emphasis and speak on. The same thing also applies to my eye contact with the audience. It did feel awkward though because pretty much no one had any expression on their face.
  7. So far I’ve been working on a drawing/ image thing whenever I can. And a lot of the tools we’ve been learning from the book has actually helped out a lot with the process of it.

September 15

On the weekend from September 8th to the 10th my family actually didn’t do much. Our area was barely affected by Hurricane Irma in the slightest. At the same time though I was getting over a pretty bad cold and fever which left me out of it and sleeping through most of the day. But later on the coming of Hurricane Irma did trigger a pretty intense sickle cell crisis.

My impression of Adobe Illustrator is that it is a cool, useful, and very powerful program. It just takes a lot of invested time to be able to use it at its full capabilities. Even though it seems really great I do prefer Adobe Photo Shop more than Illustrator.

When given time to actually explore and play with Illustrator I tried out most of the drawing tools and the different effects. It is pretty difficult to use Illustrator to make a background type setting in my opinion. On the other hand it is really great to use when drawing characters. The way that the program helps to curve with your lines.

I would like to be able to create storyboards, Character and their portraits, and background scenes. I want to be able to do so because I like to create stories and stuff like that. In order to make them a reality I need to be able to properly show how it would look. Which means having the ability to draw good and somewhat detailed concept art of characters and their poses, objects that are crucial to the story, terrain and destinations, etc.
